As fashion girls, we tend to take birthday outfits pretty seriously: our look for the night needs to be special, stand out in the crowd, and send a ton of compliments our way.

Presently it swung full upon us and—stopped. It was only when I got thus close to it that the strangeness of this object was at all evident to me.
